CONECTA Remote Psychological Support Approaches for Hard-to-Reach Migrants

Thematic Area
Migration Health
Year
2022
Language
Spanish

The document outlines the main causes of the difficulty of access to Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (SMAPS) services for migrants in Latin America and the Caribbean. Evaluation and care proposals are also generated, outlining the operational guidelines that the psychological approach should incorporate. Taking into account that IOM’s SMAPS programmes have very different characteristics in terms of the scope of their activities, the characteristics of the migrant population they serve and the socio-cultural context in which they operate, is integrated into the document a series of exercises that aim to guide its readers in a process of reflection that supports them in the design of strategies to address the specific mental health needs of their target population and through the modalities that best serve addressing specific access barriers.
