Factors such as widespread poverty, the economic hardships in Latin America and the Caribbean and the tightening of the visa regime in United States have generated a rapid increase in migration flows to Europe, mainly of migrants with a high education level and high rates of labor force participation. Given that this trend has previously been understudied, this research analyzes the causes and consequences of this migration, and examines implications for European policy.
