IOM’s country office in Haiti assisted the country in boosting its COVID-19 pandemic response by employing a strategy anchored on following pillars: application of a COVID-19 protocol, development of raising awareness activities, COVID-19 contact tracing, and rehabilitation of the local health infrastructure and ambulance system.

Haitian Migration to Brazil: Characteristics, Opportunities and Challenges

This document is a summary of the main findings from a series of studies conducted during 2013 and 2014 in relation to migration of Haitians heading to Brazil. Since 2010, there has been an increase in the number of Haitian migrants heading to the United States, France and Canada. However, in recent years there has been a shift in the traditional migration trends has positioned South America as a new destination for Haitian migrants.

Protocole de detection, referencement, surveillance et suivi des cas de COVID-19 sur la frontiere terrestre entre Haiti et la Republique Dominicaine

Malgré la fermeture de la frontière terrestre entre Haiti et la République Dominicaine le 16 mars 2020, de nombreux mouvements sont enregistrés par le réseau de surveillance frontalière mis en place par l’Organisation Internationale pour les Migrations (OIM). Certains migrants présentent déjà des symptômes d’insuffisance respiratoire aigüe, de grippe ou de COVID-19, comme la fièvre et de la toux.
