Haiti is characterized as a predominantly expelling country. Natural disasters, socio-economic problems and political instability are some of the factors that have contributed to increased internal migration and emigration of the Haitian population. Given the lack of reliable statistics on migration and its related indicators, Haiti’s migration profile provides a collection of demographic data on the Haitian population and migrants; as well as an overview of the institutional and legislative landscape regarding migration in Haiti.
