ABOUT IOM METHODOLOGIES
Knowledge products are methodologies designed by IOM with the objective of strengthening migration governance. In this section you will find a list of these methodologies available to be implemented in new projects.
Developed by IOM in 2009, the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) is a high-quality, easy-to-use and fully customizable solution for States in need of an affordable and comprehensive border management system. Currently used in 19 countries, MIDAS has been designed to meet international standards.
With the ability to collect, process, archive and analyze traveler information in real time and across the border network, MIDAS enables States to efficiently monitor those entering and leaving their territory while providing a solid statistical basis for planning. of immigration policies. IOM ensures that governments have complete and exclusive ownership of data recorded by MIDAS.
The Displacement Tracking Matrix is a system for tracking and monitoring population displacement and mobility. It is designed to regularly and systematically capture, process and disseminate information to provide a better understanding of the movements and changing needs of displaced populations, whether on the ground or en route.
This is a tool developed by IOM to identify abuse, exploitation and other violence of migrant workers in the supply chain of private private companies (ie employers - producers of goods and services.
It is a global initiative designed to promote international ethical recruitment. It works by defining and setting a benchmark for ethical recruitment (the IRIS Standard), by establishing a voluntary certification scheme for ethical labor recruiters, and an enforcement and monitoring mechanism. IRIS was created by IOM and a coalition of partners from government, the private sector and civil society. Through IRIS, IOM also works with governments, the private sector (employers, suppliers, brands, etc.) and civil society organizations to create an enabling environment for ethical recruitment to become the norm.
