Characteristics of the process of collection and use of administrative records on migration in Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean
Evidence-based migration policies are a key component of good migration governance. However, several recent studies and evaluations warn of multiple challenges to ensure the availability of up-to-date data and information and understand real migration in the region. In response to this need, the International Organization for Migration developed the project under which this study is framed, which is financed through the IOM Development Fund. This project seeks to promote collaboration between countries and contribute to the strengthening of their institutional capacities. The outcome of this collaboration will be the creation of a Regional System of Migration Statistics to provide the necessary information for evidence-based national policy-making.
