The economic threads of Dominican society transcend its borders and are linked to a dynamic diaspora, with human capital that contributes partially to national development. These threads can be strengthened and direct the true potential of the diaspora towards economic inclusion as a pillar of environmental, social and economic sustainability of the country’s current development model. The Dominican Republic faces the challenge of making its economic and social growth model sustainable. Its growth policies must ensure the preservation of its natural resources, the reduction of poverty and the economic inclusion of middle- and low-income social sectors. The present study shows the potential contribution of the Dominican population living abroad (diaspora) to increase productive inclusion.
