This is a quick reference guide for IOM staff on the ground dealing with a crisis situation and should communicate with the migrant population in transit or destination countries. It is based on the operational frameworks of IOM (MICIC, MCOF, among others), as well as the principles of strategic communication and communication for development. The document proposes communication as a cyclical process, which is built in conjunction with communities considering their needs and particularities in a context where the right message, communicated at the right time and through the right channels, can mean saving a person’s life.
