Integration of migrant children into the school system in Curaçao
Description
With support from IOM Guyana, the IOM office in Curacao developed an initiative to provide support to children of vulnerable migrant families, identifying their main needs and carrying out reinforcement activities to achieve better integration in the educational system.
Main Actions
- Needs assessment through the implementation of a Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) exercise.
- Partnerships with local schools to understand needs and capacities.
- Selection and hiring of teachers.
- Beneficiary selection and selection of migrant children to integrate into student groups.
- Design of the classes and curriculum based on individual student’s profiles.
