Socioeducational Intervention Model: Community Marathon on Migration
Description
The Community Marathon on Migration was a model implemented by the Western Hemisphere Program to strengthen the capacities of local partners and young individuals in preventing irregular migration while promoting informed decision-making and creating trust-building spaces for reflecting on the migration phenomenon.
Main Actions
The Good Practice focused on identifying the needs of the target population, training facilitators in neuroscience-based techniques, and then conducting workshops and activities in key communities. Trained youth implemented community action plans, disseminating knowledge about migration risks and legal processes while promoting effective learning and the creation of trusted spaces. Educational tools were adapted, and continuous feedback was encouraged, allowing for constant improvement of the practice and contributing to capacity building and informed decisions regarding migration.
